"Tomahawk was an amazing adventure, but is there such a thing as too much fun? Tonsillitis, Anaplasmosis, and a month long cold might suggest so.
Either way I have been fortunate enough to have time to recover, resupply, and search for my next adventure. I have looked into everything from ski resorts to horse ranches, not daring to hope I might get one more chance to live the dream." |

Waiting for the Adventure to Actually Begin (Logging Camp 1893 (2013))
There was once a race of men, as daring as they were hardy. Shantymen who thought nothing of pitting themselves against giants of the forest. If the Lumberjack survived felling trees during the winter, the River Pig would have to face down the rapids of Chippeway falls. It was a time when life was tough, and men were tougher. It was a good life, with plenty of good work, fair pay, and decent food.
When the Logging Companies departed, they left little besides stumps, a few buildings and graves. They didn’t reckon on leaving in their wake the legend, of life as a Lumberjack.
This legend grew almost as if a living thing itself, until today we speak of Lumberjacks a hundred foot tall, felling trees in a single blow, and fighting off men a hundred fifty strong. It’s a tall order to pit anyone against this Legend and expect them to measure up.
Fortunately although a scout must remain honest, when telling yarns he is as grandiose and enthralling as any mere Legend.
I don’t pretend this season will be easy. I do however know that this summer, Knapp Stout’s reputation will be surpassed in the minds of Scouts by the legend of four lumberjacks, who live in a camp somewhere between a half remembered dream, a legend, and the real world.

So this summer, I was hired as the Logging Camp Director.

"Legend tells of a legendary camp with a legendary staff who's names were legendary! We were that staff, and let no man forget how menacing we where.
We where lions immortal!" |
